MINUTES

MIAMI TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES

APRIL 4, 2022

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm by Chairperson Mucher. Trustees Hollister and Moir were present. Chief Altman, Road Department Supervisor Gochenouer and Fiscal Officer Silliman were also present.
MTFR employees Ted Wasserman, Charles Kline, Jake Rich and Gavin VanMeter were present in the audience.

ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES
A MOTION by Mr. Hollister and SECONDED by Mr. Mucher was made to adopt the minutes of March 21st as presented. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS
A MOTION by Ms. Moir and SECONDED by Mr. Hollister was made to pay accounts in the amount of $43,380.05: General Fund – $8,938.79: Fire Fund – $27,720.85; Cemetery – $530.28; EMS Billing – $2,482.08; Road and Bridge – $3,708.05. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT
Chief Altman reported there were 29 EMS incidents (3 in Bath Twp.) and 6 Fire incidents (1 in Bath Twp.) since the last report.
MTFR is hosting a Center Point Energy safety training session for Village of Yellow Springs Public Works employees and MTFR staff on underground natural gas pipe lines and how to navigate when an issue is present. A rope rescue course will be available to all MTFR employees during May and June. MTFR FF/EMT Jeremy Rea will be the instructor.
MTFR will be hosting the 2nd Annual Native Plant event April 24th from 2-4.
A MOTION by Mr. Mucher and SECONDED by Mr. Hollister was made to authorize the purchase of MTFR staff lockers and paid with General Fund monies. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.
The MTFR members present at this meeting each individually shared their personal stories how they have found themselves employed with Miami Township and their goals for the future.

CEMETERY REPORT
Mr. Gochenouer reported there were 2 burials in Clifton, a husband and wife. A natural burial is scheduled for Wednesday.
Mr. Mucher asked Mr. Gochenouer if he has been able to contact the Grave Groomers. Mr. Gochenouer replied he has reached out to them but has not received a response. Mr. Gochenouer stated he will talk to other sources and explore options.
Lastly, Mr. Mucher asked Mr. Gochenouer to follow up on the status of the new dump truck and check with Roger Rife on his status for mowing the Glen Forest Cemeteries..

ROAD DEPARTMENT REPORT
The Trustees and Mr. Gochenouer reviewed the quotes for this year’s chip sealing. Mr. Gochenouer stated he has questions for the County Engineer and will follow up.

FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT
A MOTION by Mr. Hollister and SECONDED by Mr. Mucher was made to adopt RESOLUTION 2022-17: Authorizing ACH transactions from the County Auditor’s office. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

ZONING INSPECTOR’S REPORT
In Mr. Zopf’s absence, Mr. Mucher announced that the second training session being presented by Greene County’s RPCC is being held next week.

OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Mucher reported that the Grinnell Mill Foundation has reached an agreement with The Glen Helen Association to take over the management of the Mill with a 5 year lease.

On another matter, Mr. Hollister asked that the previously authorized amount of $4,000 to be spent on landscaping/trees at the Fire Station be increased by $3,000. A MOTION by Mr. Mucher and SECONDED by Ms. Moir was made to authorize the requested increase. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, a MOTION by Ms. Moir and SECONDED by Mr. Hollister was made to Adjourn. MOTION CARRIED unanimously. Time – 6:33 pm.
