MINUTES
MIAMI TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES
FEBRUARY 3, 2020
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm. by Chairperson Mucher. Trustees Crockett and Hollister were also present. Fire Chief Altman, Road Department employee Gochenouer, Zoning Inspector Zopf and Fiscal Officer Silliman were present.
YS News reporter Carol Simmons was present in the audience.
ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES
The minutes of January 22nd will be considered for adoption at the February 17th meeting.
PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS
A MOTION by Mr. Hollister and SECONDED by Mr. Crockett was made to pay accounts in the amount of $30,792.76: General Fund – $3,605.05; Fire Fund – $14,354.76; Cemetery Fund – $239.95; EMS Billing – $8,503.61; Road and Bridge – $2,706.05. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.

FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT
Chief Altman reported there were 30 EMS incidents (4 in Bath Township) and 15 fire incidents (3 in Bath Township) since the last meeting.
The suspension in Medic 82 has been repaired again and returned to MTFR.
A Fire Marshall Training Grant application has been submitted requesting $1,700.
Lastly, Chief Altman reported he will be on vacation February 14th-18th.
NEW FIREHOUSE REPORT
Mr. Mucher reported that the project is moving along on schedule and on budget.
CEMETERY REPORT
Mr. Gochenouer reported there were 2 ashes internments in Glen Forest since the last meeting.
He added he hopes to burn the pile of brush in the Oak Grove Area in the next week.
ROAD DEPARTMENT REPORT
Mr. Gochenouer provided cost estimates for road maintenance on Snypp, Brannum and Spillan. He stated the total for chip sealing and fogging to be approximately $85,000.
FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT
A MOTION by Mr. Crockett and SECONDED by Mr. Hollister was made to adopt RESOLUTION 2020-08: Amendment of Temporary Appropriations. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.
ZONING INSPECTOR’S REPORT
Mr. Zopf shared the annual zoning permit report stating there were 21 zoning permits issued in the year 2019. $1,674 in fees was generated. Mr. Zopf added 21 permits is the most issued since 2005.
Housing development in Miami Township was balanced between the east and the west.
The Zoning Commission continues to work on modifying the zoning code.
The Agraria plans to establish composting activities and then sell the product are continuing. The question remains if composting for resale is a permitted activity within the Township Zoning Code.
Lastly, Mr. Zopf reported that a Zoning Inspector’s meeting is coming up.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Mucher stated that The Grinnell Mill is looking for someone to do building maintenance on an as needed basis. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
OLD BUSINESS
A MOTION by Mr. Hollister and SECONDED by Mr. Crockett was made to move into Executive Session to discuss matters of Real Estate. MOTION CARRIED unanimously. Time – 6:00 pm.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
There being no further business to discuss, the Trustees Agreed to ADJOURN. No further action was taken. Time – 6:23 pm.
